  • I'm REALLY liking SONAR X3, BUT...

I REALLY need my right-click custom plugin menus fixed!

For some reason, I can no longer select any of the other plugin layouts except the one that's checked in this picture (Default All Plugins). Prior to X3, these menus were the only way that I accessed my plugins and I could easily use them 100+ times in a normal day.  Now I am stuck using the default layout and its seriously cramping my workflow. I am also noticing other weird right-click behavior. Since this problem first occurred, the 'External Insert' and 'FX Chains' options also do not work via right-click.
My workaround is to use the Browser, where I can still access things as expected.  The issue has already been reported to Cakewalk's support team. I'm desperately hoping that a fix makes it into the upcoming X3c release.

Now that I have that off of my chest...

I REALLY DO LOVE X3!

I have used every version of SONAR ever created and X3 is definitely the most stable version! Since I've installed it (on release day), it has crashed maybe one or two times total. With previous versions 1 or 2 crashes in a single day was not at all uncommon. So far I have had many full work days on X3 without a single crash. The entire audio engine also feels more solid and less prone to disruptions.
I also love the pop-out EQ...which I also only just discovered yesterday! ;-)
The track colors feature is also extremely useful. I didn't think much of it until I used it for a few days and begin to realize that it definitely helps with navigating large projects.
I am extremely impressed with this release. I have no doubt that Cakewalk will get the right-click menu issues resolved. I've had to put up with worse bugs in the past (many without workarounds), so I guess I'll just have to be patient for now.

Congrats to Cakewalk! Overall, I think they have really created something special with the X3 release.

I'm not in front of my DAW, so can't check if I'm experiencing similar behavior - but have you submitted a bug report to CW?

The bug report would be a good idea.

Have you tried opening one of your old menus in the Cakewalk's Plug-in manager and the re-saving it?
If this works be sure that you save copies of at least one of them so that, if asked, you can send it to Cakewalk so that they have something to check.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the issue has already been reported to Cakewalk support (I just made it a bit clearer in my posting)

TheSteven;

I've tried just about every conceivable thing I can think of as far a saving, resaving, and moving around the custom menu files. I have also even tried re-installing X3 and the updates...No dice.

Thanks again though,

I had something similar occur (mine did not even show up), and I remade all my custom layouts while in X3, and that worked.  It was a pain, but now they are back.  Not sure if it would work for you, but you could try a quick on to see.

I've also tried making new plugin menus from scratch. They seem to be created just fine. However, like the other custom plugin menus, I cannot select them using right-click. The 'Default All-Plugins' menu still remains selected.

Thanks,

Hi Zo...can you post a link to the video?

My experience with X3 has actually been very good...minus the right-click bugs.  What's weird is that the menus worked OK at first and then all of a sudden they were screwed up.

Thanks,

My workaround has been to drag fx from the browser where I can use the layout I select, including my custom layout.
