• SONAR
  • I'm REALLY liking SONAR X3, BUT... (p.3)

Sorry Zo but just because an older version of sonar works on your system, it doesn't mean that if a later version doesn't work it must be sonar code at fault. How you configure and optimise each version of sonar is a factor (eg clean AUD.INI, plugin config etc). Also the software may access your driver/s in a different way. e.g. hook into the driver via more optimal methods, which turns out to be a buggy area of the driver... Then again your virus scanner might be slowing down some specific X3 functionality such as plugin scans.

You could easily be right but I disagree with your written assumptions.... Just saying....

if you told me that you were talking about sonar 8.5 versus X1 i would have said yes of course but X1/X2/X3 diffrences are not that deep .....all the bugs we see are not that deep .....

And again i choose and buy systems that i know 100 % safe ...that's why i mess with brands like RME ....ect ....stability and reliability is first on my list everytime ....and again this  is repoductible on my desktop and my HP 8560W that is a beast also ....

VGA ati on desktop and quadro on laptop ect ......if i can repoduce it everytime on diffrent system (and also confirmed several times in the forum) , well i guess i can seriously consider that this sin't "My" system related ;)

I say it again  X3 is inferior to X1 and you can feel it from start !!! when it come to smoothness aqnd optimistaion ....this can be just a simple thing that is sued for several process ...but i feel it and i see it !!

Based on my personal experience I'd have to disagree as well.

Even your laptop system should be dancing circles around my wimpy old HP dualcore laptop, that it isn't would indicate that you are probably having a configuration problem.  That both your systems are having the same issues and that the majority of other users are not would also indicate that.  Have you tried rolling back your system optimizations that you have previously mentioned making to your systems to see if they are inadvertently causing the issues that you are having?

In a previous thread Cakewalk asked of you...
Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk]
I see you have been having a few issues. Can you contact our tech support and we can try and figure out what is going on.

Thanks.

and you responded..

Ok just for you guyz input  here's my desktop :

YOU CAN READ BY WHOM IT IS PROVIDED or AT LEAST CERTIFIED AND TESTED by (Roland CE certified workstations) ...

I also have one of those at the SAE Paris WHERE I INTRODUCED AND TEACH SONAR !!! so please guyz stop that war on people saying what they think !!! i also endorsed the damn thing !!!! Lord !! is Cakewalk Forum became like US(NS) A ?

Can you guyz please may have a small doubt and think a Guy (with a master degree in computing , teaching also (not only) computing at the SAE , Validating tons of computer after testing those , lobbying people to choose workstations for years instead of best buy craps and macs nonsense ,posting actually stress test , lobbying Notebook check to intrroduce DPC latency results in tests , beta testing and helping several brands to dev and integrate , making a lot of Youtube Sonar based videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/ZozillaThaGreat) ect .....)  MIGHT have decent systems !!!

We all know that cakewalk Sonar use deep Windows fonctionnality and tools (templates also maybe) so i wonder if X2 and X3 aren't to much Win 8 oriented ....

here's one testng session pics back then , i test every system i can , i love it , it's fun for me and higly highliting and i know what are CERTIFIED well integrated and optimised system !!! i know what a system for audio loooks like and must be ...

" this day , was testing Alineware , HP 8540W , HP envy , MSI laptops"

This day  testing 2 HP 8560w with 2 screens (AUO vs LG)

This day messing around with a brand new MBP 17 versus a new HP 8560W (to keep the winner)

(oops MBP 17 screen ligting not that regular ....)

I love comptuting , it's a part of my life so PLEASE .... give a little credit when i tell some guyz ...my system should be ok ...

Oh by the way check what Jmimmy is using ...same crap as i do ...

I always loved this forum from day one because i have met (CJ is one of those) passionate and EDUCATED people knowing what they're talking about ....and i have been like CJ one member of the "check your system " police ... reporting bugs , putting positive pressure to a brand that we love , support and want to see getting more mature , is a must for me , healthy ....this is what i do here ...and this why they keep providing great updates .....we just have to not realease the pressure , and at the same time saying what i already said "X3 absolutly rocks !!! features wise"  but work must be done ...

I try to stay super active for me and my people (students and users) , i'm already testing VS 700 pland B (Nucleus , Avid ) , i also look for dev in case we get the open source , i also lobbyed some famous brand to consider the PC when it was created ...Ect ....

All this not to expose what i do (hate that) but for those seeing me like a troll or some : PLEASE  go make some music ....
i have been treated since few post like a "traitor" or some just because i said what i think : X3 would have not passed beta testing in my book .....or at least some obvious bug should have been super "EASY " to spot and maybe corrected .....this bothers me a lot more than the actual state of the software that i'm pretty sure gonna progress in good wayz as almost everytime !

Thks

....  bugs are so obvious that the beta testers should be punished !!lol

This comment has been made on every forum about every version of every DAW ever released.

That being said, you could list 20 bugs that you found in X3 and I would still be impressed.  X3 is a solid release for being a major rewrite.  Wait a couple of patches before you compare it to X1d to be fair.  I'd say X3's overall stability still trumps X1d (putting aside the minor bugs that I'm confident will be sorted out in the next patch or two).

I would also suggest you sign up for CW's beta-testing group (Though, considering your Cakewalk-provided PC, it's likely I'm already talking to a member).  So, either you're a beta-tester and missed the bugs you're complaining about(?!)... or you can't be bothered with becoming a beta-tester (Again, odd, since they seem to be sponsoring you).

Are you sure about this ?  I would have thought a major rewrite would have fixed things that've been around for a while, like the metronome/loop bug.

You got a Roland certified PC with a Cakewalk logo - nice.
But that doesn't guarantee that it will run with every future of Sonar especially when you've tweaked it with your exotic brew of performance enhancers.

You never answered the question:

Ok here's simple facts :

Day one : install of X3
 first contact : yes beautyfull

Insert of maschine multi outs : woah super slow !!!
ok i check my audio setting : no asio infos (FIRST CONFIRMED BUG)
no big deal i keep creating a tracks  i insert Alchemy , play some , play with solo : (SECOND CONFIRMED BUG)
ok let's try new plugins , oups my plugins layout , let's choose all plugins , done ...mmm great new plugins , let's go back to my layout : no way (THIRD CONFIRMED BUG)

i stop here (i could go on) ....so my question is simple : DO YOU guyz really think those are UNSPOTABLE BUGS !!! just a simple regular workflow would have been able to notice that after less than 5 min !!!

Those are bugs and confirmed , NO MATTER the SYSTEM .......THOSE ARE BUGS on my systems and others system ....isn't that clear !!!!

To answer Steven : no bug reports since it have been confirmed and so escaladated !!

Beta team ? i have been ask to be part , i sent the agreement , never had a reply;....no big deal .....but as i'm incompetent and have ****ty systems   i don't see why ....i would be no help for them ...(if i read you guyz well) ...

I'm out , have fun , and we will say wassup when the bug list will be launched , and i will then love to hear from you guyz your conclusions about  how X3 final candidate (actually B) was so solid

No matter what i say , you guyz knows it better , so track of day is :
