Point taken about backing up the install media, it's good advice. That said, regarding links broken for freebies, this wasn't free for me. I bought it. Back on 10/5/11. Anyway, I have faith that Cake will make it right. Hopefully one of the folks will chime in on this thread or I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Yeah Dean...anything that you paid for should definitely have a working download link.  I'm starting to question this whole situation after reading the other thread similar to this one about the DSF Strings download.  Some people say their download links still work.  I just checked mine again and anything that I had paid for still work...but all of the freebie stuff I got when upgrading to X2 have broken or expired download links.
 
Although I still have backups all the files that I had downloaded.

As far as I can tell ALL of the download links that pertained to freebie stuff that was given to us when we upgraded to X2 no longer works.  This includes the DSF Symphonic Strings, PC4K expander/gate, etc.
 
Those links have been disabled for quite some time.
 
This is why I ALWAYS save any files I download to a disc.

Yes, I checked my account last night and can confirm this 100%

I paid for the gate also, and my download link is working.
 
None of the free stuff is, though.

I don't think it's on purpose.
 
When I had an issue they sent a link that worked.
 
If it was intentional wouldn't they just disable the links all together rather than have them be dead?

Update - I just got off the phone with Cakewalk support and they've emailed me a new download link. Problem solved!
