Most of the time, Pro Channel is fine, but sometimes it doesn't work.  For example, I can put extreme 1176 compression on a voice, see the gain reduction meter moving way left, and I can turn the Output all the way up and down with no audible effect and no effect on the level meter of the track.  Sometimes, I can do extreme EQ with no audible effect.
 
For the record, the tracks in question have nothing in the FX Bin, and I know to put the track into POST when using Pro Channel with Meldodyne.  (In one of these cases, I did have EZMix in one FX Bin with the track in POST, but I deleted the effect and still could not hear any Pro Channel effect.)
 
Bascially, ProChannel seems to work or not work randomly.

Konrad - Sorry to hear of your troubles... During the X1 production cycle this was reported many times in the forums, and I also know that many of the users with problems submitted these properly to Cakewalk. There are numerous lengthy threads regarding this - and in fairness to Cakewalk, they were trying to nail those problems down.
 
I believe most of those issues were corrected in X1 EXPANDED, but the fixes were not released to X1 as a patch. Myself - I had lost all confidence in Pro Channel and stopped using it, even after I upgraded to Expanded. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to open a mix the next day and find Pro Channel was "not working" or inadvertently turning on/off, etc.... Those problems all stopped with I went back to using the normal plug in method.
 
I'm sure this has been completed resolved by X2 and X3, but for me the taste is still VERY foul.... Enough so that even with X1 Expanded I don't use Pro Channel. If I ever decide to upgrade to a newer version of Cakewalk - it will be the very basic version, so Pro Channel is completely removed from the mix...

I don't want to go to X2 or X3 right now because I am close to publishing a couple of albums and don't want to disrupt anything.  I suppose I will need to find some other effects--or else install Expanded.
 
Definitely not good for ear-training when you can't tell if the EQ or compressor is doing anything or not.   I thought I was losing my mind or going deaf.

I'm sure you could bounce the clip to a new track (rendering what is on the PC) but that's a pretty sloppy solution in my opinion. You will be working with a print of the EQ, Comp, etc.... (I'll bounce a soft synth in a heart beat, but not the basics)
 
I didn't notice the PC's problems until I started using it extensively. My mixes were changing, and it was driving me crazy. As soon as I narrowed it down to the PC and realized there was no "quick fix" I just stopped using it - and never went back!
