Ooops. Sorry for misleading you. Found it on this page: http://www.rolandus.com/support/downloads_updates/general_apps.php
It sure did look like it was going to be an .ins-file :-)

..............

Best Regards
Ludvig

No problem.  As you said, the description on that Roland page sure does make it sound like it would be the .ins file.

Old thread, but I have an ins file  that I've written for the performance patches if anyone is still interested (will need to find somewhere to host it)

As an old Roland D10 owner, I can tell you that while the D10, D20 and D110 have the same patches, the D5 has a completely different set of Patches and Timbres to the aforementioned even though it is essentially a stripped down version, sharing the same architecture which means it should be Patch compatible without the effects of the others of course.

Also, the D50 and D70 were completely different beasts, even though fundamentally based on Roland's LA architecture, they're not Patch compatible.

As I've some experience of this subject and I've seen this topic come up reasonably regularly, I decided to write a refresher post, especially since some of the older posts are now referring to online resources which are no longer there.

Hope this helps: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Instrument-Definition-Files-Cakewalk-Sonar-INS-Files-m3716587.aspx

Cheers! :-)

AFAIK the D5 is closer to the MT32 than the D110.

I have both the MT32 and the D110. The main differences are:

- The waveforms and patches are different
- The D110 is organised as partials/timbre/patch/performance; whereas the MT32/D5/CM32L are organised as partials/timbre/patch with a single global performance.

Looking at the D5 manual, the patch list looks identical to the MT32 which is included in the Roland.ins file.
