Here I am looking forward to my first paycheck where I'll have some extra finally (the first two I paid back three months of rent to a friend) then, after a LONG day, I go out to the parking garage at 11:45pm to find this:

They stole two bags of stuff I had in the backseat.  Computer items, tools and what not.

It took over an hour for a security person to show, who was useless (the police told me to go home and file a report).  I then spent too long creating a "new" window out of clear trashbags and an entire roll of packing tape.  I have a LOT of glass inside the car to deal with once I can find a shop-vac...  This will probably cost me several hundred dollars - yay...

Ouch! At least they didn't have it towed away leaving you wondering where it is only to find it the next day at the local salvage yard with a $400 tow & stow bill ...

that sucks, Craig.  we all know from experiences shared and personal that the thieves likely won't get caught or spend any time in jail for it, and insurance will likely not reimburse you fully.  sad to hear that and sad that this kind of thing happens.

Very sorry to hear this, Craig. People are a terrible thing. While there's little hope of recovery or restitution, I hope you get the help you need to get through this.

I just saw an episode of Grand Tour where they showed someone who left a python in their car as a burglar deterrent. Short of filling your car with tarantulas and snakes, there's a limit to how much more you could do to protect your car.

In the future, if you do decide to load your car with anti-theft reptiles, be sure to have a camera posted nearby for reaction shots.

Sorry to hear Craig.
" go home and file a report" !?  Are those the same cops that Bit dealt with?

Well, they probably watched the same Academy movies.

There's all kinds of fraud and thievery in PDX.  No one talks about it.  Sorry to hear you got marked.  I had this young black kid come to my door selling magazines.  That's a total scam;  and the *kids* get really mad if you don't give'm money.  Prostitution, thievery, murder you name it, pdx has got it.

Sorry to hear that Craig. I HATE thieves.  Had a car broken into while I was in band rehearsal once..the dumbasses tried to crowbar the door open before apparently thinking ''duhhrrr...we could break da window instead...''

Crime is rampant. My car has been broken into the same as your 5 times. My console has been ripped out, CD player ripped out, car door locks jammed, 2 windows broken, and the tire taken off the back. I will hopefully be out of this neighborhood by March! Sorry to hear this Craig. Try not to let it get you down

Well, that sucks! Hopefully your insurance will cover it.

What irks me more than anything is that the cost to repair the damage usually costs more than replacing whatever they took. I had a 3 week old truck that some a-hole tried to break into by using a screw driver on the lock cylinders. They didn't get in but screwed up both lock cylinders and door handles. I had to call a locksmith to get in as the key would no longer work. There was nothing they could have taken (only oem stereo and nothing of value) but I was told later they were probably after the air bags. Go figure. Just too many freakin' a-holes around!
