Since the last update, it is now taking almost TWO MINUTES for Sonar Platinum to load.
WTF!
Anybody else having this problem?
Solution?
Thanks.

Hi. You give no information about your system, so it's impossible to help. OS, RAM, SONAR version etc.
All the best.

Have you tried loading a brand new project with no FX ?
How fast does that open ? If it opens quickly that's an indication of a plug in issue.
Have you used any new plug ins lately ? Try opening in Safe mode: Hold down Shift while opening a sonar project.
Load VSTs one at a time.

The Sonar program opens very quickly (no projects) as it always did but....
I've noticed, over the past few weeks (2 months?) that it takes Sonar Platinum a much longer amount of time to open individual projects.  Especially if I have the new Superior Drummer 3 in the project.   Where it used to take less than 15 - 20 seconds, it's now taking up to a minute or more to load a single project.

The track view and control bar load right away, but then the synth rack and console view take a much longer time to load.  And I can't do anything but wait until everything loads.

I think the OP may be referring to the actual sonar program opening, not projects. If that is the case it has been slow for me for much longer than the last update. I timed it on many different days and it was almost always 1:55 from the the point of selecting the program before it was opened and ready to use. The only time it was less than this was when it was being opened again after being closed in the same session (ie pc has remained on) so not being a computer whizz I guess that there are things that have to happen first time out that are not required in subsequent initiations as long as windows has remained running.

I've no idea if any updates since 08 have improved or worsened this as I haven't installed them and I've long since taken to starting the program and wandering off for a while so that I don't have to sit there wishing two minutes of my life away every time.

I am talking about the loading in of Sonar itself.  It take about 2 minutes just to get to the program.
Once it's open, projects load in lightning fast.

SONAR takes ~5 seconds to load here (from an SSD), but that's just the first time after booting. Subsequent restarts are faster.

Do you have "scan on startup" enabled? (Preferences -> VST Settings -> Scan Options).

You didn't mention your soundcard ?? which is what sonar initializes when you open Sonar itself.
Have you tried opening a project directly from your project files ?
Example: go to your project folder and double click on a project icon. This bypasses Sonars Start screen.
If Sonar opens fast, this would eliminate soundcard diagnosis I stated earlier and point towards a possible C++ update or Open GL/Video card update which is what sonars start screen uses. Bitflippers idea about VST scan also hold water as well.
Those are my guesses anyway.
Sonar opens to start screen here in less than 5 seconds (SSD HD / Intel I7 4790K)

Yes.  The VST Plugin scan was always on.
Never took long to boot up; even with this on.
