Yes.  The VST Plugin scan was always on.
Never took long to boot up; even with this on.

But I'm sure you know that the more plugins you add, obviously the longer it takes to scan them.
I always leave the plugin scan off, and do a manual scan whenever I add new plugins.  It saves a lot of time when opening up Sonar.

I'm having the same issue. Boost 11 is the culprit. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I haven't used Boost 11 much. Maybe it needs to be reinstalled. You could try excluding it from the vst scan path and doing a reset/rescan of your plugs to confirm, then try a reinstall. It seems to me there was an updated version of Boost 11 during the past 6 months or so. Are you running the latest version?
FWIW I have been using Studio One Pro since Cake's announcement - you haven't seen long load times (both DAW's are on an SSD primary boot drive) - SONAR runs rings around S1 for loading projects here.

Just timed opening Sonar, then a project with 32 tracks. 14 seconds in all.

Did the same with Boost 11 (old version) added to the master bus. 14 seconds again.

What makes you think Boost 11 is the problem?

It takes Sonar a short time to start but a long time (couple of minutes) to open my projects most of which are 30-40 tracks. I don't know if that's good or bad but I plan accordingly and do some other stuff while waiting. No big deal.

as I mentioned earlier in this thread, your soundcard can have everything to do with it, as can a C++/VS library update.
So... Specs ?

When I try to add Boost 11 to a project it hangs for several minutes. I usually end up doing other stuff while waiting for it to load. This does not happen on files without Boost 11. I have tried reinstalling it with no success. I'm going to try uninstalling then reinstalling Sonar and the XL pack to see if that helps. I'd rather not spend the time if I can avoid it, but this is really slowing me down...
Win7 64 bit.

BTW, where can I find the Boost 11 update mentioned above?

Thanks,

Another option: get rid of Boost11 altogether. Surely you have an alternative limiter that you can use? There are freebies out there that are better than Boost11, e.g. Limiter No. 6. If you like the ease of use of Boost11 and are into smashing things hard, there's LoudMax. Either would be an improvement over Boost11.
