This is probably a silly question but I want to know before I install X3. Do you have to have X2 on the computer to install the X3 upgrade? Reason for asking is that I am going to install 2 Solid State Drives and I am going to make it only for Sonar X3 and I do not want X2 or any earlier versions on the new SSD. Is this something I can do or do I have to have the earlier version to "upgrade"? I am a registered user so I have the earlier version, I just don't want to clutter up the new drives.

You don't have to, but if you care about V-Vocal and RMix you will have to run at least an advanced install of X2 to get them available for X3. The actual program files are just a couple hundred MBs max, most of the installed stuff is shared content with X3 anyway.

I am not aware of an advanced install of X2. Is it an option on the regular install process or a special thing I need to do to do an advanced install?

The install option is one of the first screens displayed during the install process. The screen will have two radio buttons, one for basic and one for advanced install. After selecting advanced install a later screen displays a list of components with check boxes.

It turned out to be a herculean task, but I got everything migrated to the two new SSDs. A problem has popped up in installing X3. I live in the country so I am on a satellite internet connection. What this means is that I have to do any serious downloading after midnight as I am limited to 10G per month, except from midnight until 5:00 am where it is unlimited. After taking one whole night just downloading the 12.8G making up the complete package, I had to spend more time downloading as 3 of the parts were corrupted and needed redownloading. Strange thing is they didn't always fail at the same place when retrying. Finally worked and got Sonar X3 up and running, but Dimension Pro refuses to work so that means more time tonight as the Dimension download is the largest of the bunch. That will hopefully be taken care of tonight. My real problem is with the Addictive Drums download. I downloaded the small installer program but when I run it it doesn't do anything and yes I have unzipped the file. I have downloaded it at least five times and still the same problem, it just sits there. I have cleaned the cache to no avail. That shouldn't have really been a problem as this was a brand new OS install and no real work has been done with the new OS. Anyone got any clues as to why Addictive Drums doesn't do anything?
