I haven't upgrade to X1 or X2 (I am still in 8.5).
 
I need a good upright bass sound for a midi patch. My friend is using Garage Band, and although I'm not tempted to use the product - some of the patches (like the upright bass) are pretty nice.  They even have a little slap.
 
Is there anything on par with that in my Sonar? (in one of the synths).  How can I get a good upright bass sound?

Have a look in Dimension Pro - there are some really cool acoustic bass patches in there.

gigasaurus - Dimension Pro is chock full of great sounds and patches.

Regarding upright bass, what you don't have included but you could get if you wanted to, would be to go all out to get a super bass sound in the package by Spectrasonics called Trilian. Look it up on YouTube if you're curious. It's the cat's meow for cool bass vibes.
