Definitely turn virus protection off...even MS Security Essentials resulted in a BSOD for me. And as other have said: you'll need to get the patches...I'm hearing rumors that X3c will be out by weeks end barring any unforeseen problems.

Well my download files at Cake did not have X3a...only X3b...which I installed.  Should I have installed "a" first?

Installing X3b only is OK.

You can install SONAR X3b directly over the SONAR X3 release version (available on discs) and/or the SONAR X3a ESD version (available as a digital download).

Olpal, the only other thing I would suggest is to reset and rescan your plugs because we have a new plugin manager now.

Go to preferences/vst and click on rescan existing plugs check box then press the reset button. It will rescan automatically for you. (if you're set for auto scan) You should only need to do this one time. When you're done, take the check out of the rescan existing plugs box so it's back the way it was and you should be good to go without any plug issues. This resolves any plugin issues that could arise.

Enjoy X3! :)
