I just tried it on a drum loop and it did the exact opposite of what I expected. It attenuated the highs to the point where the hats and shaker sounded significantly quieter. It also made the whole loop sound less powerful, even though it raised the overall peaks by about 1dB.

I tried it on a different drum loop and the high frequency attenuation was even more pronounced. Here's the example - it's four bars with Neutrino disabled, then four bars with it enabled. Then four bars off, four bars on again.

PS This is with the "drum" setting. It wasn't that much different with the other settings.

Eddie, I know this is a lot to ask, but how about posting a project with and without Neutrino on every track? That should settle the matter of whether the effect is subtle but cumulative, or too subtle to matter. I'd do it myself (because I am a hopeless nerd) but my DAW won't be up and running for another week.

Nope, sorry, not playing that game. Anyone who's curious to hear for themselves what the plugin does or doesn't do can download the thing and go nuts. I won't object if anyone disagrees with my posted opinion.

It is surprising to me that so many have stated they don't hear the effect on a single track -- can't anyone perceive the spectral changes produced by cranking the Detail knob? Maybe try listening to an acoustic guitar track on good headphones. If you still can't hear it, you won't likely hear the difference on a full mix either. That's fine, it won't make or break your song. Carry on.

Cheers,
Eddie

That link isn't working for me, but can I ask where you set the controls for your test?

The Drum mode, to my ears, seems a bit different from the others. Maybe some transient enhancement going on there.

All joking aside, I'm a bit puzzled as well by so many who can't actually hear what the plug is doing.  I mean it's subtle no doubt about it.  But it is altering the signal.  In fact, if you turn both dials all the way up and still can't hear it working...you might want to get your hearing checked.  Although, at least in my testing, turning both dials all the way up was pretty unpleasantly distorted...unless that's what you're after.

I can't even install the sodding thing !

Anyone come across "error 1638" when both the C++ redistributables (x86 and x64) try and install ? I can finish the installation process but Sonar plugin manager won't pick up the VST's , both 2 and 3). I'll try registering the .dll's and see if that works.

I am reluctant to uninstall the C++ 2015 files already installed (which, apparantly are newer than those to be downloaded chez MS ............ ! )

A+

I've been ranting about that for weeks OP....

I got the 1638 error but it didn't seem to affect my install as the plug seems to be operating hot straight and normal.  But, as a precaution, I downloaded a second copy just in case.

I am getting the same message no matter what I try to install.
"The service failed to respond in a timely manner"    Must be the latest Windows 10 update...
So, it can't be Neutrino.....Any suggestions? Help! LOL

So I auditioned this on something a little different: I have a pack of mostly clavinet loops from Bernie Worrell [R.I.P.] (Parliament/Funkadelic, Talking Heads, TomTom Club, etc...) and I heard a very distinct effect using the Instrument setting.  Definite boost in highs and I think some additional harmonics going on there too (basically added some 'sparkle') .  That nice clean clavinet sound makes those pretty easy to hear.  I also think as Eddie TX also said that there is some compression going on too.  A little sustain, but also a little 'thickening' of the sound.  I actually quite like it.  Reminds me a little of Slate's Revival.  Another nice freebie.
