In the autobiography of Ikutaro Kakehashi (Roland's founder) he says he chose "Roland" because a) it was easily pronounceable in any language (except, ironically, his own), and b) there were no other "R"s in the vendor listing at NAMM.
I'm guessing "Arturia" has a similar explanation. Begins with "A", like every company Wylie Coyote ever mail-ordered from. And is much more easily pronounced by English speakers than "Pommereuil".
