It seems I've won The Bakery. With great power comes great responsibility (and no points to start with).

As a rule I do not enter contests with the purpose of winning anything.

I will enter a song/mix but even if I won I couldn't care less about the prize because it would make me happy just to be chosen.

.....but, how are you going to win the lotto if you don't play the lotto?

Just curious. Did you ever win a giveaway content from one of the web-sites, web-stores, magazines you ever frequent? I am talking about legitimate companies (e.g., SOS magazine, online music stores, etc). I am not doubting their legitimacy, but just wondering if anyone ever succeeded in winning?

I did once! I entered a contest run by Recording Magazine and won Cakewalk Professional (I forget what year it was). The problem was that I had already owned it for a number of years at that point. I asked instead that they would give me the latest upgrade for free. They agreed to this.

In 1990, a French Canadian music video TV station was having a Alice Cooper giveaway. I called hoping to maybe win a copy of his latest album.

I got screwed - I won the album, a t-shirt and a pair of tickets for his show in Montreal. Having no mean of transportation and no budget to even consider going, I was very disappointed.

Eventually, a friend who was a big fan of Alice heard that I had ticket and he arranged the trip for us.
