I recorded an eighth note arpeggiated guitar using my midi keyboard.  Now I would like to export it and bring it into Sibelius for printing so a real guitar can play it.  If you have ever done this, you know that the resulting sheet music is very hard to read because the keyboard was played using sustained notes.  The sheet music is full of long notes and ties, etc.  Guitar music would normally be written in simple eighth notes with a note to let them ring.

My question is, is there some way in Sonar to make all of the notes played into eight note lengths ?  Maybe a CAL script or some midi effect that I am not aware of.

Thanks

You can try using the length feature. It's listed in processes. you can experiment with different settings, like increasing or decreasing the length by 25%, 10% etc. Eventually you will find a setting that will make eighth notes. Of course you have to first select the notes in question. Another way might be the quantize features. there are two, one as a midi effect and one listed under either edit or process.

Why don't you use Find/Change?  You can hit ALL on the first screen, and on the second screen, type in the duration in clock ticks.  For 1/8th notes, this would be 60 if your clock is set to 120, 480 if your clock is set to 960, etc.  You would put the same value in the Min and Max boxes.

If you simply do a bounce to clip, Sonar will render all the arpeggiated notes to individual notes.
