Hi;
I'm new with Sonar. I used to use Cakewalk in the past, then moved to other studios' software.
I have some recorded songs divided in tracks, I opened them in Sonar X3 producer, they open in different tracks but when I add the Strum Acoustic Session in the FX the track goes in mute and won't play any sound: My question is this;
 - Do I have to record directly to Sonar, in order to get this FX, or is there a way I can do it with pre-recorded songs in another program?

I'll appreciate your help.
Thanks

Hi, don't add it to the FX bin of an existing audio track that has actual audio in it. Strum Acoustic is a softsynth and needs to be set up on its own track (needs midi). You can check out online help for setting up virtual midi instruments, but the quick way to add it is to drag it from the browser to an empty space in the track pane. Technically Sonar shouldn't let you add a synth to the FX bin of an audio track unless it doubles as a real audio FX, but it lets you drag anything in there, which is obviously confusing because it kills the audio track's output.

Some synth affects can be used directly on audio. It isn't a mistake that you can add a synth to an audio track FX bin

But StepD is right... you want to create a midi track with some midi notes in it and route the midi track to the soft synth (or use the INSERT SOFT SYNTH wizard).
