There are a couple of quotes in there that may not sit well with fans of the "classic" edition that made me smile..

" For some years it suffered from an outdated and confusing interface"

"We praised SONAR’s new Skylight interface when it was revealed a couple of years ago, and it remains a vast improvement on the “bad old days” of cluttered and confusing graphics."

So I'm not the only one that liked the new Skylight GUI when X1 came out?

No you are not alone - there are many of us! After a brief "getting to know you" period, it was a much more appreciated interface, at least for me (and it seems a couple of others

I started with Sonar 6, and loved it.

When I updated to X1 I was initially confused, but, with the help of Scott's book,  realised just how good the new interface was.

I couldn't imagine going back to the old one.

By the time X1d had been released, I loved the stability and workflow.  When X2 came out, I was unsure if the upgrade was worth it.  To my surprise, it was a huge improvement to workflow - just refining the X series.

X3 has been the same, for me.  It is just getting better and better.

As with the review, 9/10 from me.

I would give it 10/10, but it still needs my input to make music..

+1, I vote for the 10/10 too.

Very nicely written article, but could have had much more content included. The "- Don’t expect the Touch to replace your mouse – it’s more of an enhancement to it" in the "Verdict" gave me a chuckle. I think it is a bit unfair since "touch screens" are only useful on apps with little functionality. "+ Skylight interface" and "- Touch Screen" are implied to me.

Well we have something to aspire to next time around :)

I think overall we were pretty thrilled with the review. There's more coming soon too. All have been extremely positive!

I started with Professional 8 and went to Pro Audio 9. Sonar was a huge change. It took me awhile to figure it out. Example was the buss pane. I had no clue what it was for. LOL When it dawned on me why it was there it was like a light went on in my head.

I have seen all the changes over the years and have embraced them all. I learned from that buss pane experience that CW is much smarter then I am. That understanding has served me well.
