  • Has anyone been testing the copy/move clips in Lanes issues?

Hi Gang...

I was just wondering what the state of this issue might be in X3b... Remember the problems intermittently encountered regarding the copying or moving of clips from one lane/track to another (X2a)?

Any news?

Thanks...

I have exercised this a bit over the last day or so (my 71 take lane adventure is described elsewhere) and I can tell you that I believe most of the drag-drop issues with clips between lanes and tracks have been addressed.

I'm not promising that X3 is bug-free in this regard; merely that it seems much better.

I have been comping like a lunatic the last couple of days and no issues at all, all works fine for me.

My only slight annoyance (its not a bug) is that when I stop recording a track or tracks and you are recording in a loop point, you stop recording at the end of the loop then naturally you get a tiny bit of recording at the start of the loop that gets auto promoted into the take, which you then have to go in and clean up before you even begin to organise your takes.

Not sure how one could address that.

I find copying/moving clips (without dragging) in X3 still inconvenient because if you copy the clip in Lane 1 and then select Lane 3 and paste it, the clip still lands on Lane 1.

hmm... How about if you "deselect all" (Ctrl+Shift+A) before making the paste?

Just tried it now but it still lands on Lane 1.

Okay. Just thought I'd check. So basically editing, although a little better, is still a pain in X3. This does not bode well for any possible upgrade cash coming from me. 90%+ of my issues with Sonar are editing related. Tracking is acceptable but not perfect and mixing is actually quite pleasant but editing... oof.

Using copy and paste is still the same as before however, I can lasso several clips in multiple lanes and move all of then at once. They all end up in their own lane when finished no problem.

Selecting and dragging a single clip to an empty space on another lane works fine as well.

very quick and easy.

Hmmm...

I guess it will feel better for me as I usually use drag functions as opposed to copy/paste... It sounds better in moving multiple clips as in X2 I'm forced to always move 1 clip at a time...

It is a drag that the copy paste isn't more intelligent yet... I hope this is addressed in X3c? This creates extra tedium needing correction... Which is also still the case for zooming Lanes!
