It is audio dropout. Many things can cause it. Buffer size, memory, hard drive speed, background processes and so on. Please, post more information.

Well...  I don't know the DM-3200, or your computer specs, or your buffer settings, so it's a little hard to trouble shoot.

Firstly, look at your buffer settings.  If you're not using "input monitoring", then increase them.

Secondly, maybe try recording at 44.1kHz or 48kHz.

Thirdly, list your computer specs in your profile's signature, and I'm pretty sure someone will be able to sort your recording problem out.

You might also disable any plug-ins by clicking the PDC button, or manually disabling them.
If your buffer settings in Sonar are ample enough (if you have to go above 512, for example), make sure you don't have an Anti-Virus scan running in the background.

You may also check page 1182 of the X1 Reference Guide: http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013228
See if Safe mode helps.

Has your system been working OK before this happened or is this your first use of all this gear?

Has anything changed on your system recently?

Please, read this article by NI and do what it says to your system. It should address it.  http://www.native-instruments.com/knowledge/questions/1395/Windows+8+Tuning+Tips+for+Audio+Processing

Please do not do anything mentioned in the above article.

Firstly, it is for Windows 8, not XP?

Secondly, there is no need to tweak like this unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Follow some of the other advice given above first, or you may end up with a DAW that does not work at all.
