Hello all...

Just finished a new song. Indie/alternative fuzzrock this time.

This is the first mix, so would love to get your thoughts on the sound.

Thanks!

Hi Anders,

I've just finished listening to Suasion. I am now listening to Please Speak, to remind myself of that first song you uploaded... Bad memory I'm afraid and I'm listening to so many songs here at the moment.

So, what a contrast

I like Suasion too. There are some issues that I can't quite put my fingers on... Might be because I'm listening on headphones...

How have you created the parts? I can't make my mind up whether you have recorded a real guitar or used something like Strum for the distorted backing parts. Or may simply be keyboards. I'd be interested to learn which

I'm listening again and I think perhaps parts sound quite "brittle"  and harsh in places. If I turn down my volume to counter this, the low end stuff becomes too low.

Vocals sound okay, and I like your voice.

Nice second song

Hopefully, someone who knows what they are talking about, will be along shortly to give you a proper critique...

cheers

Thanks for your feedback.
... and yeah, a big contrast from Please Speak. I find it fun to try and make alot of different music in all geners.

For Suasion I find it hard to find the right balance. I want it to be "sharp" sounding, but obviously not too sharp. I try to listen to the mix on different units (headphones, studio monitors, livingroom stereo, small dock and so on), but it sounds very different on each unit. On some of them I think it sounds good, but I also have to agree that it might be a bit too harsh when I listen on other units. I feel that if I take some of the guitars "down" it loose the edge I tried to make. I guess this is a typical problem for rookies like my self. :)

As for you instrumental question, I usually have both live recorded parts together with parts made in Sonar/Sturm, like in the song Please Speak. For Suasion I made all the parts in Sonar, and then recorded vocal.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

I think this song has potential if it's mixed well.

I'd bring the vocals up, they sound pretty darn good. I think you could look at your guitar patch - is this an amp simulator? Perhaps a slightly cleaner patch would help the mix a little.

I bet this one gets pretty good by the time you are done with it!

cheers,

Thanks for the input Tom. I have used the TH2 on all guitars. Will try and experiment a bit too see if I manage to clean it up a bit.

yea she needs some work...I love your vox but it needs a bit of separation...I'd also like to hear the bass have a bit more definition...the guitars are good but I'm not a big fan of the verb your using.

this is one of these tune in my mind that could be Killer...but there's just so many efx's going on things get lost....but the writing is top notch....

if you need a hand mixing and/or on the production end give me a holla....

I think once you finish this could be a gem

good job!

Thanks so much for the nice input Pogue/Tom.

It all pretty much boils down to my lack of abillity to mix/master. I'm quite new to making songs/music and don't rellay have the experience. This is basically why I post my stuff here, since alot of you obviously do, and I learn from your feedback.

Would love to get a hand in the mix/production if you offering. Great chance to recognize what could be done better.

Again thanks.

Really liked this - Nice song
It may be me but I would look at rolling off a bit of the top end of the guitar patch that kicks off the track as it seemed a bit harsh to my ears.

Vocals are nicely sung and would benefit from bring brought out a bit more, don't hide your voice man its good :)

Thanks Biodiode.

Seems like more of you hears parts of the guitar a bit too "harsh", so will check that out for the next mix. I want it to have a nice edge, but not too much.  :)

Also thanks for the feedback on the vocal.
