  • Mouse curser movement over Waves GUIs

I have just bought a couple of Waves plugins - MixCentric and the L1 Limiter. Both sound great, however, when the mouse curser moves across either of these VST's GUIs there is a whole lot of distortion. If I deliberately "wave" the curser over the GUI the distortion is constant. Move the curser away and everything is crystal clear again. This does not happen with any other VSTs.

Any ideas? I notice that I can use the mouse wheel to control rotaries, which is great - can't believe it is related to that?

Probably related to your Display Drivers...

Try lowering or raising the resolution of your display
or checking for updated drivers...

Marshall,

I've never seen that.

Larry may have the right of it.

I would report it to Waves Support. They are real helpful.

I would even report it to CW just to cover all the bases.

Thanks - it is a new all in one HP, i7 6700, 16GB machine. Only had it about three months and it is an amazing PC for music, very quiet and the graphics are stunning - I mean SPLAT looks super crystal clear on a 27 inch display. The fact that it is only happening with Waves plugins is the weird bit. I have sent a note to Waves support.

The only thing stopping me getting a giant monitor is that I have my speakers either side of the screen and they're in the ideal stereo position for my head - I wouldn't want to move them any further apart. I have my second monitor to the right of the right speaker.

Don't know about this particular problem with Waves but they did have an issue with their GUI's in Sonar a few years ago, the controls were very choppy and unreliable. It was fixed eventually but who knows what other peculiarities lurk below the surface.

Thanks. I am still trying to sort this issue out. I spent two hours on the line to Waves support last Wednesday night (they called me back). They tried everything, and eventually they isolated the issue to the Intel graphic adapted driver, that neither I nor Waves tech could update - it just produced an error message. I have two graphic adapters and the AMD driver updated without an issue.

They told me to contact HP who have said they are looking into it and will call me tomorrow.

As things stand, it is worse than before Waves support got involved, in that Sonar now crashes every time within a minute or two of loading a Waves plugin, but is 100% stable if I don't use their plugins. Currently, and on Waves advice, the Intel graphics adaptor is disabled. To be continued.

Waves support probably had you do this, but in case they didn't:

Marshall, are you sure you have the latest Waves Central install correctly?
