I need some mansplaining about the connection between Great Britain and Cakewalk.  I don't see many french people contributing.

It's a contraction of the phrase 'St Botolph's Town'.
 
Lincolnshire is a very flat county, and St Botolph was able to invent Battenburg while out for a stroll without hindrance from the peaks and troughs of say, the East Ridings. By sheer coincidence, Battenburg is made up of squares, much like other things that are too.

I just got netflix and watched *the crown*.  So enjoyable and full of history.  You've got to give it to the royal family, they are curators of a rich cultural tradition.

Lots of the competition is/was based in Europe, i.e. Steinberg, Logic (by Emagic before Apple bought them), Ableton, etc.
