I'm really looking forward to working with X3... I know it doesn't address all the concerns I have with the X releases, but it appears to have made great strides towards that end...

I used to use the Timeworks compressor as my go to... I liked the sound of it, found the UI relatively easy and comfortable... And the built-in spectrum analyzer helped me to quickly Identify center freqs... Their analyzer wasn't very accurate, but it still helped in this scenario... I changed to the Quad Curve EQ as goto since day 1...

I haven't played with Ozone, so I have no comments regarding this...

Wow... that's a flashback!    I used the Timeworks EQ for years.   The only reason I stopped was first because of the built-in Sonitus EQ, and then when going 64bit.   Heck, I used to use the Compresser a lot too.    Those were two of my favorites from SONAR 2.

Yeah... I used the compressor all the time too! I still like it, but I like the pc2a and pc76 a little more... I would possibly continue to use the comp occasionally if it was 64 bit, but I mostly stay away from 32bit plugins these days. I have a few that I can't afford to replace (such as my Leslie) so I continue to use it... Wouldn't you know... It causes a number of crashes in Sonar... surprised? ;-)
 
I use a few of the Sonitus plugins, but I liked the sound of the Timeworks EQ better than the Sonitus EQ and continued to use it even after we got the Sonitus line... Same for their' compressor... It's not bad I just found other I liked a little better back then and now the PC modules have me using almost none but the PC stuff... I still use the Sonitus DDL for most of my ddl work and I use the Sonitus Modulator for flanging a lot... I have also used the Sonitus Multiband for some mastering... Funny, but I like the sound of it better than the Phase Linear multiband even tho I "know" it's not as accurate... I also don't care for the UI for the Phase Linear Multiband (I hope I'm getting the name right)... But I rarely use either multiband much these days...
 
I'm really excited about these new features in X3 and I'm so anxious to buy it... It's gonna be a difficult "few more days" until I get it (Monday?)

The fly out RTA is killer and a huge time saver for sure, you wont be disappointed.
+1 on the ability to detach however....a side by side comparison would be great.

I hear ya, Keni.   A lot of my EQ needs are simple low-shelf filtering, so the inline Sonitus worked well for that and was more convenient.  But for anything creative or surgical, it was always the TW EQ.  But now with the Quad Curve that covers sooo much of what I need.   CompressorX was always my go-to for kick drum - for some reason I always liked what it added.  But these days it's usually it's a PC EQ, which one depends on the instrument.
 
Anyhow...   I believe X3 is somewhat of a "statement" by Cakewalk.  One that I hope you enjoy as much as I and many others have. 
 

I love the updated QuadCurve. With the enlarged graph and selectable curves it the only EQ besides Sweetone that I use anymore.

I, for one would love to see what the "bakers" could do with applying the "fly-out' option to all the PC plugs. To me that wold make the ProChannel really "sing"!!
 
Just saying if they are looking for suggestions from the users...

the timeworks plugins were awesome.  funny how there are so many plugins that seem almos tuniversally loved..yet apparently not loved enough to stick around

I tried to use the audio spectrum tool ....SONAR sends a message it cannot be used with the current format...
I'll do more research ...operator error seems a norm for me!
 
I was a BIG Timeworks fan for years... used it more in Audition though....

Love this. A great example of the bakers listening to the bread.
