Beep, for convenience when using th2, I use their gate. May not be the best, but less clicking and more playing.

It's great for playing along with my weird little practice compositions and tracking but I find there is a little warble from the TH2 gate particularly noticeable on fade ins/out and the effect loses its tone. That last bit may be a Pre/Post issue but IIRC I tried messing around with Pre/Post FX bin settings and it didn't help much.

Basically I think I'll use the TH2 (or GR5 or whatever) internal gate just to keep the sim from being distracting/annoying while jamming along/tracking but try the other stuff when it comes time to mix. Now that I know more about the Sonitus Gate I think that has all the flexibility I need to really keep the heavily distorted stuff under control without washing anything out.

I just wasn't sure if I was being weird by thinking this but I guess not. Hooray! ;-)

I tend to gate before the Amp Sim.  Sometimes after, as well, but always before.

The Sonitus gate is good, I just prefer the ease of use of the PC.
