  • VC-64 (Vintage_Channel_64.dll ) running in 32-bit in X3 Producer 64-bit mode?

I just upgraded from X2 Producer 64-bit to X3 Producer 64-bit (X3b build 216 - x64) and VC-64 is running in 32-bit mode according to the browser (color code = green on plug-ins tab). Vintage_Channel_64.dll is located in the c:\Programs Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\VintageChannel directory and the VST Scan Paths contain c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins.
Other Channel/MultiFX plugins such as PX-64 and VX-64 are both running in 64-bit mode.
VC-64 ran in 64-bit mode in X2 Producer 64-bit.
Is this a bug or do I have an incorrect setting?

OS = Win 8 64-bit x64-based

The VX-64 and PX-64 are 64bit plug-ins developed by Cakewalk.  The VC-64 is a re-skinned version of Kjaerhus GAC-1. VC-64 has always been a 32bit plug-in. In 64bit installations of SONAR VC-64 is installed with the 64bit plug-ins but notice the (32-bit) appended to the name in the FX menu and browser. The 64 in VC-64 refers to the 64bit processing performed in the plug-in.

To add to what scook said, the odds that those legacy plugins will ever be upgraded to 64 bit are slim to none, especially the ones that are by now defunct companies like the VC-64.  To their credit, Cakewalk has slowly been introducing 64-bit replacements for all of them while making sure these 32-bit programs still work.  VC-64 was introduced when there was no pro channel or vintage emulation plugins like CA2A or console emulation modules. With that said, I think the VC-64 has a unique sound so I am glad it is still around.

Even  MMC machine control does not work on Sonar X3b 64bit but works ok on Sonar X3b 32bit .
I think 64bit needs some more testing,but I cant really tell cause i`m only 2 months using 64bit.
Peace

I love that plug! What awesome lessons I've learned tweaking those compressors and equalizers. I'll be installing that one for decades to come unless we get a sixty four bit version.

I think that for me, the vintage channel is one of the toys that history shows to be a massive favorite.

Thanks scook and dubdisciple for the quick response. I guess I was fooled by the VC-64 thinking the "64" meant 64 Bit. I did know it was a re-skin but didn't relealize the original developer wasn't around anymore. I agree with gswitz - I learned a lot from that plugin and I'm glad I can still use it. In response to ronkenobi I believe I saw the colors in the browser display in the new Read Me file but I'm not sure. However, I didn't do any custom colors after my install so the browser has a black background and the plugins are displayed in 2 colors blue = 64 bit and green = 32 bit.

Thanks again everyone.
