Is it just me, or is there a whole new positive vibe around here lately?

Since X3, everyone seems to be a whole lot happier.  The bakers and other CW staff are popping in and chatting.  Updates for X3 are coming thick and fast...

Yeah, life has become better - although mine wasn't bad while still being married to X2a

I really appreciate all the helpful souls in this forum and especially like the direct interaction with Cakewalk to get some problems sorted out. I hope they stick to what they do at the moment in terms of customer service. I reckon that's also the best kind of advertising a company could do.

I keep my fingers crossed for X3c and eventually X3d, sorting out some of the remaining issues ...

BTW, when researching troublesome 3rd party products you quickly get the impression that the grass can't be greener on any other (DAW) side. Things that bug us here bug users over there ...

+1 from me.  I can finally put the pedal to the metal in X3 now that Roland has released the drivers for the VS 100 this morning.

...wicked
And yeah it's just enough to shut up the peanut gallery!

I expect that by "peanut gallery" you mean those who articulated various issues with Cakewalk over the past year or so such as X2 instability and bugs/quirks that many (but not all) users experienced and were never adequately addressed, and a nearly complete lack of interaction or feedback from Cakewalk staff until quite recently.  Instead of being dismissive of these users, you may want to consider that the feedback and pressure they provided to Cakewalk may be part of the reason we are seeing what appears to be a significantly improved company!

I applaud Cakewalk for releasing a great product in X3, their willingness to support it with patches, and the very obvious renewed commitment to being responsive to users.  I for one came very close to jumping to another DAW after a bad experience with X2, but am glad I gave X3 a try first as it is really very impressive and much improved IME over X2.  It has been wonderful to know Cakewalk staff are engaging with users to troubleshoot problems and note areas for further improvements.  I only hope these past few weeks are indicative of a long term change in approach and not just a short term bump following the release of X3.

Agree. It really is nice to have bunch of happy campers, particularly when that is a reflection of an awesome release of Sonar and improved interaction by Cakewalk staff.

Go Cakewalk!

Since X3, everyone seems to be a whole lot happier.  The bakers and other CW staff are popping in and chatting.  Updates for X3 are coming thick and fast...  The usual new version posts like "I ain't touching that until the first patch" never really made a show like in previous years (maybe because the bakers beat us to the punch with X3a).

I think there is a real feeling that X3 was better out of the gate that previous versions and the few bugs that are cropping up are getting squashed as fast as humanly possible.

The fun and joy have made a return around here and I for one am lovin' it!

Well said SA! I think the reason is....we've had our share of growing pains between X1 and X2 to where we know where we need to be. We also didn't have any real show stoppers with the initial X3 release, so this really makes people happy. We have our Bakers back talking to us a bit more like the old days and they are really going out of their way to assist people in need. This is huge and one of the things that I have always felt separates Cake from the others.

We have a really solid product that really has had some blood, sweat, tears as well as users who have made great suggestions. I believe they are listening to us where in the past, I often wondered how much that may have been the case. I think the whole silent treatment (though I can understand why they may take this stance at times) can really make waves and paint bad pictures. They say no news is good news, but in this field, I would have to say that is the furthest from the truth.

The thing that I feel everyone needs to remember is...in a sense, any of the Bakers being here taking part should be respected to where they are not drawn into a battle. Nothing will make them stay away faster than crap like that. I'm not saying we need to always be push-overs, but there has to be respect at all times unless one of the Bakers is out of line with us. I've seen them have incredible will power. Way more than they should at times, which is really commendable. There's nothing better than having an intelligent, respectful conversation without a rant, with the people in this company that can make a difference. Seriously. Think about the power that has alone. A simple thread with good ideas or conversation have often times lead to "you know, we just may visit that idea!" I've seen it.

We're also getting patches out really quick. For them to literally patch the initial release means someone was really working hard. They must have found something the last minute to do that. Then we got b really quick and I could have sworn someone mentioned a possible C or something already? Don't hold me to that...but I thought I saw it mentioned.

Anyway, this is a great time for us. We'll hit a few bumps in the road but I think there is no question the Bakers are really trying their best to make a difference for the better. No DAW is perfect...and trust me, I've tried several due to being in a business where I got tired of people hanging up on me for not having the DAW they wanted me to use. But my heart will always belong to Sonar. A friend of mine said it best...."Sonar just feels like home". I too am lovin' it! :)

Again, well said.  I have seen people on here belittling the swift updates, saying that X3b should have been ready before release, or that 3c is only equivalent to X2 quickfix, and that it is a marketing ploy.  I'm with you, Bro, it seems like they are going out of their way to produce a great DAW.

Same here.  I have used Cubase and PT a lot, as well as Studio One and Reaper, but only for work, when I have to.  Sonar is the DAW I recommend to people, and the one I use by choice.

Cheers, Danny.

I'm pretty sure X3c will be here by the end of October :-)

Unless I dreamt it.

For me the love has always been here.  I will comment that it is better to be here when so many are happy.
