Hi,

Hoping to find help with this error message. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED  (ctaud2k.sys)

Started about 2 months ago with Windows 7 Pro 32 bit Sp1
4G Ram
SB X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series
Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.20GHz

So thinking is was a memory error I upgraded to Windows 8.1 64-bit and added 4G more Ram for a total of 8G ram

Still get the error

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Matthew

This sounds like a drive issue, and I new free utility hit the street about a week ago that is worth looking into to check your drivers. http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2909231

Edit: There have been a lot of posts on driver issues with Win 8.1. I have not upgraded past Win7, so cannot speak specifically to these, but some drivers are not yet out for some pieces of hardware, and rumor has it that Win 8.1 won't use Win 8 drivers.

see if creative have a later version of the audio sound driver, one that is supported in windows 8.1. Maybe let them know too - or disable the card if you can

Latest driver and for windows 8

Thanks mettelus and Jimmy Boy

Downloaded driver booster and it said I had the latest drivers
Also downloaded and tried creatives latest drivers for 8 (none for 8.1)

any other ideas?

Hi Matt,

I'd try talking to creative support about it, the faulting driver is creative's after all.

You could also try reseating the sound card, it might possibly be lose and intermittently failing or not pushed in to the PCI controller far enough.

If you don't need the sound card then remove it from the PC and see if you still get exceptions from other drivers.

Oh I also noticed there is a creative BETA driver - you may want to try that too...

Hope this helps..
Jim

Ya I have a support ticket into Creative right now

I tried using the beta drive but that did not work ether

Already did the remove and install the card

I guess I need a better sound card but I can spend a lot of cash-o-la.

Thanks for the help anyway

The threads about 8.1 not supporting 8.0 drivers concern me a lot. If it is true, you will have to wait on Creative to update their drivers :(
