  • I Must Be In Love (cause I'm singing the blues) - Now with Blues Harp - remixed 7/20/15

Lynn
Here's another new song that I wrote and recorded in Platinum.  Some of you may recognize Jacyn from the vocal section of Dim Pro, but the rest is just me.  I haven't played the blues in a long time, but I've been feeling them, lately.  I'm looking forward to all comments and suggestions.  Many thanks in advance.

UPDATE: remixed on 7/5/157
I cut some of the fat from this piece per suggestions by several people.  I hope I'm going in the right direction with this.  Thanks for all the suggestions.

This is remix #2.  I added a slight touch of reverb on the snare, as suggested by MGC59.  I also added the blues harp in places which was requested by several people.  DISCLAIMER:  I haven't played harmonica in about 25 years, so I didn't take center stage with this, as I'm no John Mayall.  I just hope that it doesn't offend anyone ;)

Remix #3:  I brought the rhythm gtr up a bit, and I cut a little more fat (low mids).  Thanks again for your ears and support.

Remix #4:  (7/20/15)  Small change.  Some have said that this was heavy in the low mids, so I applied a multiband compressor at the mastering stage to smooth out the frequencies.

Fun. I'd bring the drums up a tad, and once you do, I wonder if your guitar in the first minute or so isn't coming in juuuuuust a hair before the drums give the downbeat?  The drums have a "behind the beat" swampy quality to them, I'd like to hear them a little more, and you might consider dropping the guitars and organ just a bit. YMMV.

Great bluesy voice by the way! Really fits the song, and you've got that growly thing down! Guitar licks are plenty tasty.

cheers,
-Tom

Thanks, Tom, for the suggestion.  I did bring the drums up a bit, and hopefully, this will balance the rest.  I actually wrote the song around a 6/8 MIDI loop from AD2, so maybe I rushed the guitar a bit.

Lynn, Sounds good to these old rusty ears, yet it seems like it could use some harmonica in there somewhere. Just a thought from an old timer. Nice vocals on this and the instrumentation fits right in to make this a Lynn bluesy special masterpiece.

Peace and Blessings, John

Thank you all for your time and patience.  John, I agree that a harmonica would fit in here, and I may go out and buy one to experiment with.  I appreciate all the comments about my voice.  I may do some more writing in this genre because it seems to be in my wheelhouse.  Thanks again!
