I am trying to transfer a project from my Dad's computer to mine, and Sonar freezes when I try to load the project file. He has the Producer version while I have the entry level X3 and there are no issues loading projects that I made on my PC. The project is only using MIDI at this point (I do not wish to bounce the tracks yet, it is still in the early stages). Is there some special way to transfer projects from one version to the other, or one computer to the other?

it should load, so send the sonar project to customer/technical support, they can see why it crashes... good luck!

If its only Midi why not export it from producer and import it into x3 as midi rather than a Sonar project file .cwp.

Where did you get this MIDI file from? I would try what mudgel suggested and just try opening just the MIDI file on your Dad's computer.  That may work better than doing just the project file.
