Correct - higher resolution give you a little more vertical real estate for additional tracks or less scrolling in the PC.  
 
When I first went from to 1200 from 1080, for example, I noticed that the extra pixels allowed me to see an entire default PC channel strip (in X1) without scrolling.  Of course, we now have CE and other modules so I do scroll more... though I don't mind the tradeoff. 
 
I currently run two 24" Viewsonics, but if and when I upgrade again I would definitely look into a flat screen TV(s) instead.
