  • How to remove vibrato information from a midi file?

Hi Sonar friends,

I have a MIDI file, which I have downloaded from the web, that  keeps sending vibrato information to my tracks. I have looked inside all tracks through MIDI events and have deleted everything except notes information. And could not delete the vibrato information which affects my VST.
There must be some kind of information that I can`t see even in the event file menu.

Can you give me any help on how to disable that vibrato jnformation?

Thank you very much

Vibrato in a synth is always cause by pitch bend wheel or real time control of the LFO that is patched into the DCO(oscillator's pitch).

If you can't see them in event view that means them are not there. Another way to be sure is open up automation lane of the relevant track and see if there is any "events". If you can see them, then right click on the automation data and choose delete envelope.

BTW way which softsynth are you using?

If you can't see the automation data and you still can hear the vibrato that can only means that the vibrato is preprogramed into the sound(patch). In that case you can either choose another sound or reprogrammed the LFO to do nothing. For example turn off the LFO or LFO amplitude or frequency to zero would do the trick.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much Musichoo,
I am using an orchestral vst called Edirol Orchestral playing Erik Satie Gymnopedie 1. The vibrato that comes to the flute is not the normal vibrato of the patch, it is a heavy vibrato that moves the rate. I could not see any automation nor controller in the midi file, it is a GOST VIBRATO lol :) . I have turned off the vibrato depth and rate and the problem seems to be solved. The vibrato is affecting all the instruments of the orchestral. I read something on the web that satates that this midi file could be generating to a Garritan which uses a diferent controler for volume which is not the n 7 and may be affecting my vst.

If you want to find the GHOST Vibrato, I can send you the Erik Satie Gymnopedie midi file to check it out.

Thank you for your interest in trying to help me.

Best regards

Sure I did, and deleted everything except notes. And the problem persists.

A little Googling indicates Edirol Orchestral can switch articulations, including one that adds vibrato. Most likely what you're hearing is in the VSTi setup, not the MIDI file.

When I think common vibrato - CC#01 modwheel or aftertouch, usually channel aftertouch.

Maybe if aftertouch is turned off in Sonar, that it's not shown or something.
It's off by default.

Just a wild idea...

But brundlefly's idea of switchkeys which are not obvious is probably a really good idea - it's still normal notes in your data.

Look for notes in higher range or lower range below anything else.

Ok, but what switch that articulations after a few bars in Edirol? There must be something that turns on that vibrato after a few bars.
I will try to use TTS vsti and see what happens and will return with resuts here.

Sorry for my english.
