I got my AK package yesterday and got it installed today.  I have to say that I am quite impressed with the sounds of this soft synth.  And the fact that they are easily tweakable is a plus too.

You probably remember how I recently put my DAW online to download / install Addictive Drums and found out that putting my DAW PC online caused my computer ID to change and my Toontrack stuff no longer was authorized...until I uninstalled the network drivers for my phone (which is how I get online).

So I wasn't too concerned to install my phone drivers and software to get back online to install AK since I knew the fix.  Well...after I got done installing AK I disconnected my phone from the internet but did not uninstall the network drivers.  AND...low and behold my Toontrack stuff STILL worked.  I still can't figure that one out.

But...I am really stoked about the piano sounds in this synth.  I think they are the best I've heard so far...although I haven't heard Ivory and a few other big brand keys.  But I'm VERY satisfied with this $29 purchase...!!!

I'm impressed by AK too, bought the bundle a year ago for $85, I think, and even full price is well worth it.

Never liked upright piano that much, but AK upright is there every project almost. And going in and tweak Rhodes and you are home again.

The sad thing is that they now sell it for $29 means their business is not going so well. It seems desperate, kind of.

Is it piracy taking another victim?

Many that started as software businesses now moved into hardware, Arturia, NI, Waves and others.

I lived in Malaysia and is lucky enough to have friends in USA to help me with the 29 bucks sale. Now I own Addictive Keys, True Piano and Ivory Keys II. (Sorry, I am trying not to sound like I am bragging). IMHO AK is very versatile in the variety of sound it can produce. My favourite of the AK piano is the upright which is very intimate sounding. The studio grand is nice but lacks the dynamic range of true piano and Ivory keys. But I have not fully explore it's full potential yet cause I have not tried all of it's presets and effects. I do believe the pianos will be used in my future compositions. The Mark one is not up to my taste as the Lounge Lizard 4 is still the most versatile and dynamic EP I had ever tried. That's my 2 cents.

I enjoy all XLN Audio's products, but, can we please all agree that they need to lose their online-instal-only scheme. I do my part by ragging them every time I talk to them. Can eveybody else please help and do the same. To put my tower online, I must physically shlep it several km down the road, or pay $30/GB off my cellphone. Unlike Member Teds_Studio however, I have never had my phone's driver messing up any authorizations. THAT is alarming!

Why don't you go online with a wifi us pen?
I do it all the time I need to connect my daw to the net. You just connect the pen when you want to be online and remove it to disconnect.

Besides EzDrummer which I got for the same price, it's the best $29 I've spent on a VSTi.

That's what I did...  specifically for AK and AD.  Plug in the wireless adapter when needed, go online and get what you need, then unplug it and move on.

I would have been happy to keep my DAW offline as I have all along, but it is nice knowing that ability is now there should I need it for any reason.

All of this is assuming that one has a wireless connection available, of course.

I'd have to agree on that point, I don't think it comes anywhere near the Lounge Lizard EP4.

I'd like to add Pianoteq to my collection, it will have to wait for a while though - quite pricey.
It does appear to be pretty much 'the ultimate modelled piano' from what I've seen and heard.
Huge bunch of add ons available too, for quite a range of instruments.

I'm mostly interested in the piano sounds, I can see the add ons could total up to a pretty big sum of dosh!.

Cheers - Cliff
