I use RealGuitar by Musiclab for my acoustic guitar, GREAT product. When used correctly it sounds amazingly real. I am looking for something similiar but with electric guitar sounds. I mainly want something I can use to do power chords, run them thru Guitar Rig to get the exact sound Im looking for. I don't really care for the Distorted sounds available in most libraries. If I cant get a program similiar to RealGuitar, then something that I could load into Halion would also work. Any Ideas??

Other options are Virtual Guitarist 2, which was just announced, Prominy LPC, Bela Medial Lyrical Distortion 1 and 2, ManyStation's Guitar, and Liquid Guitar.

I just finsihed a piece ("Interlockin'") using mostly Bela Media Lyrical Distortion (and a little LD 2), with some LPC Prominy for the more interesting chords in the chorused Guitar part.

I think the rhythm guitars in most of my earlier pieces were Virtual Guitarist or Virtual Guitarist Electric Edition.

Thanks jeffn,

I have VG 1, and to be honest, I think its crap. You get the same pattern over and over. I want something I can create my on patterns in, and change samples by velocity, or a dedicated key to change them. Maybe VG 2 will be better, but its hard to think so right now. Ill take a look at the others you mentioned, though.

I found VG and VG EE to actually be more flexible than other people. By interspersing palm mutes with chugs, I found I could create most simple rhythm parts.

That said, I have moved on to the using Lyrical Distortion and (perhaps in the future) Prominy LPC.
