Hi,
I just bought the Mackie MCU Pro, as there are a few issues which do not allow me to make the full use of the device in cooperation with SONAR X2.
The most important problem seems to be three of the buttons from the "V-Pot Assign" section. Specifically, "EQ", "Compressor" and "Plug-in" do not work in accordance with their original applications. When I press the "EQ" button, what I get on the dispay is: "Track Compressor". The same effect appears after pressing the "Plug-in" button, whereas the "Compressor" button shows: "None" info on the display. All this takes place no matter if I use any plug-ins in a given project or not. As for the "Track Compressor", the only effect available is the SONAR's Pro Channel Compressor. All attempts of switching to different sets of compressors or equalizers (by pressing the Left or Right Channel buttons along with "M1" plus "Edit" buttons) bring no effect ("none" info on the display). I know this procedure is addressed in SONAR X2 Reference Manual based on the "ACT", but in my particular case I find it difficult to put these instructions in practice. Could you please help me assign the proper plug-ins to their corresponding buttons?
Another problem (possibly related to the above mentioned) is connected to the "Automation" section. "Snapshot" and "Disarm" buttons do not work. "Read/Off" works properly, but it does not link to the corresponding icon in SONAR. As a result, even though the button works, I do not see the effect on the computers screen. What makes things worse, the corresponding LED does not hold its light. The problem of the LEDs not holding their light is true also of all the remaining buttons from the "Automation" section.
If anyone knows, what to do, please help!

The reason is that CW has not bothered to update the dll for the MC with all the changes in X2.

For some reason CW has had this problem for a very long time dealing with changes in the software that are not correspondingly changed in the support for various control surfaces.

Thank you, John, for quick reply! So, don't know hat to do - waiting for dll update or better return the MCU PRO to the dealer (I have still few days to do).
Best Regards,
Adam

Adam I have had my Mackie Control since it first came out. I have had zero problems with it in all these years.  It is the most supported CS around and is the default standard. If you have it I would keep it. There really is no better choice.

Its up to us the users to get CW to update its support.

Keep in mind its up to the developers to support the MC. This means a different developer will do a better job of providing full support.

OK, if you think in the end they will release a dll update, I'll keep my CS. I really like it, and that's too bad it doesn't work totally properly.
Best,
Adam

Additional info - in my SONAR X2 is used MackieControl.dll ver.17.5.2.306. I don't know, how old is that file...

Hi John!
Is there any other way to communicate with you (email or so?).

John
You could PM me. I do have an email account but I don't hand it out unless you ask for it.

On my system that file was modified on sept 12 2012. But that has no meaning.

Its age should not be important. What is important is does it work.

Hi, John, thanx for reply.  Now, I have another problem. I‘ve noticed is that the movement of the faders (MCU PRO) is not as smooth as it should be – I’d say it’s rather jerky. I’m just wondering if it is also the fault of Sonar, or maybe the reason is different. Is there any way of testing the faders without Sonar? I don’t have any other DAW software. Maybe there’s a special software for testing the movement of the faders. I know that after powering the device on the faders undergo their internal test by moving up and down, but during this test their movement is so quick that it’s impossible to spot any problems.
Best,
Adam
