There is no need to use Plugin manager at all to setup vst scan or to perform one. In fact there is a bug where potentially the 32 bit plugin manager was being launched (now fixed for X3C). Stick to setting up everything inside SONAR's VST preferences.
To enter scan paths use the dialog provided in vst preferences.

Noel, did you get the Cakewalk coffee mug with X3C...and more importantly, will I get one with X3C?

Would the bug mean that all of a sudden the scanner doesnt scan the paths that are in the preferences   window ? That is what happens. when I scanned the vst plugins All at once I didnt get the vst3 folder or plugins. That was the whole story.

Its easy to check - if you are running the 64 bit version of SONAR and launch plugin manager, the title bar should say Cakewalk Plugin Manager X64
If it doesn't its running the 32 bit plugin manager and if you scan from there its actually scanning the 32 bit path not the 64 bit path - therefore the 64 bit SONAR wont see any results of that scan. The 32 bit and 64 bit scans are stored independently in the registry.
Anyway that issue has been fixed. As I said earlier there is absolutely no reason to use the plugin manager to scan. Just use the scan button from SONAR.

Good question!

Can I have one too?    <-- That's another good question.

Sorry Noel

What I mean is that in the browser the plugins are in a directory.

+VST3-
+VST2-
Direct X-

etc.
What Im saying is that after opening Sonar X3 a few times with  the scan at startup in preferences I lose the folder VST3 and this folder will not come back again until I delete (remove) all the scan path's except for the VST3 path. After that I have to put the other scan path's in one by one to get all the plugins and their corresponding directory's back in the browser.

Thats pretty bizarre. Do you have your VST3's on a removable drive or something? If so perhaps that drive is going offline for some reason.
Once its scanned the plugins wont go away unless they are physically not available.

I dont really know whats happening. I went into preferences and am only scanning the new or failed plugins. Not the existing ones. They havent disappeared yet  so I guess this will work for now. All my plugins are on the same C drive as the program is.
