I've got my X2 files and the update files. Now I've got my X3 files. Can I burn backup DVD's of these to use to reinstall the program at a later date? Will this work?

Yes, to create install disks laid out like the ones available from Cakewalk, use a tool like 7-Zip to expand the download files then burn to Dual Layer DVDs. Otherwise just save the d/l files like any other data on a DVD.

Even better still IMO, buy a portable USB-3 powered hard drive.
I have several, with every version of sonar from 6 onwards, plus ProChannel plugs, Content Club, Izotope, Guitar rig 5, in fact every thing to do with recording. I store one at my daughters house so even if aliens zapped my home and transported it to the moon I still have my backups.

Thanks, guys! Yes, I do have some external USB drives. I'll probably do both methods just to be certain.

Yeah - but what if you were in your bed when your house got zapped to the moon?  Fat lot of good your backups would do, all the way back on Earth at your daughter's place - cheez clone yourself, man! :)

You could still install it from your Cakewalk account.

daveny5 - Yeah I know. I just don't like having to be dependent on the internet working, or problems with the Cakewalk site, or even with Cakewalk still being there at all.
I guess I'm just paranoid but, I've been burned before. I just prefer to have control of my own software fate. Ha ha!
