I'm not needing to be right about this, I only want to find a solution.

I cannot get the UAC nag screen to not show up when I launch X3 unless I completely shut off UAC.  I've right clicked SONARPDR.exe and gone to the compatibility  window in the properties and set it to run as administrator.   I've launched the program as administrator manually and that doesn't help either.

UAC also is affecting whether or not the Macro keys on my Corsair Vengeance K90 keyboard will work in X3.  If I turn off UAC, the keys will playback the macros in X3, otherwise with UAC on, the macros won't play.  The curious thing is that the Macros play in X2 as expected regardless of the UAC settings.

Anyone got any ideas about this issue?

Wish I could answer your question but I've had UAC turned off for a year now. I could not get Waves plugin's working and the Waves support guys said I had to turn off UAC for them to work properly... I did it, much to my regret, and they now work.

I do make regular system images and I have not had any issues with it turned off.

If you're using a "shortcut" to run X3, One thing you might try is to right click on the shortcut, select properties, Compatibility Tab, at the bottom check the box for "Run this program as an administrator"

Thanks for the tip but I've already tried the check box for running the program as an administrator.   Funny thing is that X2 doesn't have that compatibility box checked yet it doesn't throw up the nag screen.

Hi Dave,

Sorry if I didn't understand correctly but are you checking the box in the SONARPDR.exe or in the "Shortcut" you are using that runs the SONARPDR.exe?

If I remember correctly I had to make sure it was checked in the "Shortcut"

Setting it to Run As Administrator will cause the UAC prompt to be displayed, it should be unchecked.

Thank you.  Even though I had unchecked that option to see if anything changed, after reading your reply, I went through the process a little further and deleted all shortcuts and the shortcut pinned to my task bar.  I then rebooted and I didn't get the nag screen anymore.

Thanks for your help.

What nag screen are you referring to?
There are no changes in the manifest settings that would affect UAC from X2A to X3. If you missed X2 you could see a different because X1 used a different compiler. X3 is compiled with /MANIFESTUAC:"level='asInvoker' uiAccess='false'"
If you want to read more about what this means you can get more info here.

Glad it's working properly for you now!
