Can you imagine pitch correction in the old Motown stuff?  The female vocals were almost always about 20 cents flat.  It wouldn't be Motown if it were in tune.

It's not just the pitch, it's the timing as well. There is a lot of music that would not sound anywhere near as good if all of the timing was corrected. Take a song like Dixie Chicken by Little Feat...imagine if they time corrected those vocals in the chorus, it would lose everything.

"Correction" is all relative. With Melodyne you can as easily detune vocals down by 20 cents as offset the timing.

I could be way off base here, but, I'm thinking that Celemony might be happy with their decision to work with the folks at Cakewalk...

I may have missed it, but to recap - when you register your Essential form X3 you get an email with an upgrade offer to Editor?  For $149 US?  Is that a "full" version or just for use with Sonar?

Full version. The Essential version you get with X3 is also a full version.

^^ thanks.   Well, that was the last straw.  Even with a few of the fixes I wanted not in, I give up.  Off to the Cakewalks Store!!!  :)

Tbh ARA integration is so incredible I wouldn't want to use Melodyne outside of Sonar (or, I guess, Studio One) at all anymore :)

How is the CPU when using Editor in SONAR?   It was pretty heavy when I used it on Studio One a while back.
