once more the 1607 anniversary update ...

finally the word is out on how long you can defer it - and it's only 4 months until M$ forces it upon you, and half of the time is up already.

now, are there still issues with 1607 as regards DAWs? what is to be aware of?

I have heard numerous reports that moded win 8.1 had to be reinstalled to get devices working again ... anything else?

Mine was installed last night. I think I have just about tested everything and seems to be fine. 37gb in the old windows folder is clogging up my C drive though, that will have to before long, but I want to keep the possibility to roll back for a while.

Obviously, it works for many people.  But others have issues.  MS has finally admitted that the W10 AU won't be done until November.

So I am going to wait until MS has it fully baked.  There is no pressing need to install it.

If you have Windows 10 Pro, you can extend the feature upgrade deferral out to 8 months using gpedit.msc as follows:

Thanks for that link. I will definitely defer until a time when I have a couple of days to check everything and fix whatever gets broken ...

BTW, allowed 1607 to be installed on an office PC yesterday. still installing, 17 hours after completing download, 91% and progress slowing ... so it might be November anyway until 1607 is here

Mine went through yesterday. Took less than an hour and went smoothly. So far nothing to report but a few graphical changes. BTW they didn't ask, they just did it when I powered on.

after 22 hours and the last 8 @ 91% I pulled the plug. now it is trying to restore itself, then the 1607 game will start again - really glad this is an office PC and not any of my DAWs
