Great writeup Danny.  The only issue I have is that the meters sometimes stop working, but I might try your steps when I have some time just in case it fixes that as well.  Thanks for taking the time to write up such detailed instructions.

Thanks! And you're very welcome. I figured it might work for someone. :)

Thanks for your time and input, Danny. I uninstalled UAD and reinstalled using the latest 7.3 update, but my situation with UAD-2 and Sonar X3b remained exactly the same. Just to make sure I was doing it right, I uninstalled and reinstalled my UAD system 3 times.

I did notice that UAD installs its plug-in's in a "Universal Audio" folder in both "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)", as well as in a "Steinberg" folder in each Program Files location. When I set Sonar X3 to scan only the 64 bit "Universal Audio" folder, the MONO plug-in's did not show up. So then I set X3 to no longer scan the "Universal Audio" folder, but the "Steinberg" folder instead, and both stereo and mono UAD plug-in's were listed, but still failed to function properly.

After doing all of this, I checked and confirmed that the UAD plug-in's work perfectly with X2. I much prefer the new features of X3, so I hope to hear something official from Universal Audio and/or Cakewalk soon.

All of my UAD-2 x64 plug-ins are being recognized/scanned and are working as expected in X3b. The same as in X2, which I still have installed. Make absolutely sure your VST plug-in path to the proper UAD VST x64 folder is correct. Use the default location that the UAD installer uses to install the x64 plug-ins. Do not allow a VST path to the x86 folder that contains the 32bit UAD plug-ins. You cannot have both x86 & x64 UAD plug-ins being scanned and picked up by SONAR or you will have conflicts. It is only one or the other. If using SONAR x64, you should be only pointing to the default UAD x64 VST plug-in path  C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins as highlighted in the screen capture. No other UAD plug-in path locations are needed. After verifying the plug-in path is correct, go to the Plug-in Manager|Options and then select "Reset All". This will clear out all existing plug-in entries and allow you to do a complete fresh plug-in scan.

Sorry it didn't work for you, Mel. I was hoping it might have made a difference for the better. Yeah I'm sure Cake will get back to us before UAD will. The last time I spoke to UAD support, they told me they no longer test on Sonar in house. I'm not sure if that's changed or not but as of X2, that's what I was told when I had problems with UAD before. If anyone will get to the bottom of this, Noel will eventually. I have insane faith in that guy. :)

Just a quick note to confirm that I have been doing as Billy instructed and have been completely avoiding all 32 bit VST folders, without any improvement. As I mentioned in my 2nd post, past 32 bit conflicts in X2 caused me to avoid them already.
