Hello,

Some of my VSTi's are not showing on the plugin manager.
For example, Trilian is installed and it opens if I open a project that has it.
But on a new project, I can't insert Trilian because it's not anywhere.

How can I fix this?
thanks

Do you have more than 255 VSTi's? There is a problem with that which has now been fixed.
Also are you looking in the plugin browser or effects bin plugin menus? Make sure that you have the "all plugins" layout selected.

Hi Noel,
Nope, I do not have more than 255 VSTi's. Not even 100.
Since it was not in the plugin browser I went looking in the plugin manager and it is not there too.
Will check the article now.

No solution yet...

Have you tried Resetting your VSTs?
Under Preferences & VST Settings.

I don't like using it because I end up wading through a number of my plug-ins asking for re-authorization, or reconnecting them to their library locations, etc. but every once in a while...

While hunting for clues here are a couple of things to check out.
  • in the Plug-in Manager did you check to make sure that it hadn't some how gotten Excluded? (by clicking on the 'Show Excluded' radio button on the bottom left) If it somehow wound up on the Exclude list it would not show up in the list with the regular plug-ins. Not sure if an Exclude plug-in would even play - never tested it.

  • Are they appearing in the Windows registry?
If your running Sonar 64 bit check under
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory\
    or if 32 bit
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST\Inventory\

Thanks TheSteven,

I will try that.
But the plugin plays fine if I open a project that has it. It is just not listed anywhere.

Noel, any clues?

replaced the trilian.dll in the vst folder.
sonar x3b re-scanned it, found it, but it still not in the plugin manager list of vsti's...

So it doesn't display in the Plugin Manager dialog or in the Browser?  Or both?

If it's not in Plugin Manager, make sure it's not in the Excluded list.   If it's only the Browser, try the Default layout if you haven't already.   Maybe even switch back and forth between that and the X3 layout.
