The end result of all the efforts has paid off!

Thanks Tim, I'm glad you stopped by for a listen. I actually got the first pass done inside a week, but then spent the rest of the month putting it right. I'd love vocals on my tunes but I can neither write lyrics or sing, so I don't think that will happen any time soon.

Actually, I did do a song, some time ago, called Vast, that had vocals in it. I might upload that to SoundCloud soon. My lyrics, sung with computer generated vocals through a vocoder, so I need to look into doing that again some time, seeing as I recently invested in Vocodex.

Thanks again for listening

Truly a very valuable and well constructed piece of music. Very nicely done.

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my electronic music, I really appreciate that. I do play guitar, but I'm not happy enough with my playing to include it in my music, but I'm working on it...

Well produced, bright and a slick groove.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for listening to Nessus... Listening to your songs I'm surprised you have the patience for my synthetic stuff

Cheers again to everyone who has taken their time to listen to both versions of this tune on SoundCloud. 120 listened between the two, and my post here has managed to stay on the front page of the songs forum for almost a month now, thanks to you guys, and therefore helping its exposure.

Hi, Andy,

You've got a really nice, lively instrumental here, with a great selection of textured synth sounds layered really well with the smooth melody lines and a fresh, clean sounding mix!

Excellent work, Andy great stuff!

Best Wishes,
Bob

Yeah, sounds pretty good here!!  Snare is a little light, but the overall mix is nice and thick.

It might be a bit of an odd comment for a synth based track, but I really liked your bends.       They really add something to the interplay between left and right.   In spots the individual lines (particularly the left side) reminded me a little of 90's Steve Winwood.

this would work well as a soundtrack to any extreme sport that has long sections of mellow attack,
like powder skiing, or paragliding

i think the mix works fine, for the genre, which i really don't know much about...
like,
how much of this is actually played, and what is programmed, etc....

but it sounds good.

I like it a lot.  Nice lyrical quality to the lead, which as an instrumentalist, I know how hard that is to achieve.

Hi Steve, thanks for listening to Nessus and you following comments

I created those bends in two ways. Some are bends created in real time with the pitch bend wheel and some ore more simply made by using legato and portamento together, again, in real time, although some I tweaked or added later in PRV.

Hi Rob

I'm so glad that you popped in for a listen... I know you don't normally listen to this sort of "music" LOL!

You are right to pull me up on that issue and I have to admit that my performing abilities are somewhat lacking. I used to play in a band but my parts were relatively simple enough for me to "wing it."

My own music is mainly based around programmed synths, all within Sonar, that I will, now and then, "augment" (and I use that word loosely) with real time playing, that I invariably have to spend some time putting right afterwards.

I have always classed myself more as a "MIDIcian" than a musician, putting more effort into composing rather than playing, much to the annoyance of my missus. She is still waiting for me to serenade her with some Led Zepp stuff on my recently flamboyant purchase of a PRS Studio...
