Has anyone tried doing a clean install of Cakewalk, et al, without using the Command Center?
Does it work?...

I installed everything from scratch on a new PC a couple of months ago and I didn't use CCC. CCC should be seen as redundant now. Previously it had the advantage of making it easier to keep up-to-date and to make it possible to easily roll back to an earlier version if needed. Neither of these factors are relevant now, so why are people still using it?

I have been updating and installing Sonar to back up computers as an extra measure for the future. One of my 7 computers will keep going. Also this allows me to cover different OS like W7 and W 8.1.

I've used both install methods a few times now over this last month and CCC is basicly easier to use as it keeps track of what you have installed.
Installing from your downloaded files is faster only in that you don't have to wait for CCC to re scan everytime. But given the chioce I use CCC because I don't have to write down what I've done. It tells me.
And I'm the guy who hated CCC when we first got it. I didn't use it for about a year.

It's just a tool for managing your installs and you don't need it but like a power saw VS a hand saw I find the wood cuts easier with the power saw.
