Hi Jlien,
Hmm...maybe I'm confused. Were you hoping that muted MIDI clips did not show up in the main track, or were you hoping they showed up regardless of muting state? I had been thinking that having the behavior I showed above (muted clips not showing in the main track) was intended...it's certainly consistent with how audio tracks work.

Essentially, the behavior in the screenshot above is the same behavior that audio tracks show.

Oh, sorry, I TOTALLY misunderstood your post (which happens sometimes.....due to my insufficient English comprehension). Also, I should have made it clear that muted MIDI clips show up even when the lanes are COLLAPSED.

This happens to me too, and I AM English...:)
The lane height issue is somewhat mitigated by the improvement that active midi clips show up in the main track as stated by razorwit..

but indeed you are correct that once the lanes are collapsed, that muted midi clips will appear, or even entire muted midi take lanes will appear in the midi track in locations where there is no active clip..so there is no correlation between what you see in a midi track and what you hear.

I am sure this is an oversight and is a bug rather than a feature request (I hope)

Not at all, god knows I misunderstand English all the time (particularly after a few drinks or when my wife is speaking). To the contrary Jlien, your English is very good. I would never have guessed that it is not your native language.

BTW, Keni, did you get a chance to pick up X3 yet?

Thank you both for your kind words. The last time I spoke English was a long long time ago but since I work as a translator (not interpreter) and went through some training in the KVR forum before coming here I think I'm doing quite good here (but you have no idea how long I sometimes have to spend just to compose a few sentences, and also how fast I click the Edit button when I notice my own grammer mistake right after I post... LOL)

Anyway, yes, the muted clips showing up in the track even when the lanes are collapsed must be a bug, so I'll send in a bug report.

Thanks

Ditto on the language, Jlien - I never would have known!   But you should see me write in Japanese.   Wait, on second thought...

As far as muted takes go, I don't think that's a bug because the same thing happens for audio as well.   When there's nothing audible to display in the main track it will display whatever muted take is top-most.   Which, IMHO, makes a good case for a lane hide feature.

Thanks Everyone...

I guess I won't know until I play with it for myself. the video was very compelling (speed comping) and I am truly looking forward to that asap... But the zoom issues while editing is an issue for me since the start... I'm glad that they addressed the Lanes issues as much as they did and I am very glad for it... and the fact that they specifically mentioned the zoom issue being addressed in an upcoming fix is much more promising than the silence during X2...

For me one of the zoom issues is that to comfortably (?) deal with things I mus switch between using my typical zoom commands with the drag-zoom (new) on the timeline... causing a lot of constant mousing from one part of the screen to another...

I'm really glad they are once again talking with us... and I can only hope that I somehow manage to get the X3 update....

Thanks again...

...and BTW. You all speak well (forum talk), I didn't even know there was a problem! ;-)
