I suspect it is a zen question.  Try entering "purple".

Cakewalk has replied saying they have confirmed this is an inherent bug within X2 Essential.

Did they give a workaround for this bug or an ETA for a fix?  I can't clone MIDI tracks and it's pretty bad, I get the same issue.

The answer I got from tech support was:

"Yes, I have confirmed that this is an inherent bug within SONAR X2 Essential. It's possible that there is a work around for this. When you want to add more Audio or MIDI tracks please select that track and hold SHIFT and select 0 repeatedly. This will make new audio and MIDI tracks."

This isn't really a work around, is it?
No ETA for a fix was given, either.

What about copy and paste?  Would that do as a workaround for now?

Thanks Bob, I never thought about it (because I now use a fully customized project template and I rarely need to clone tracks) but I just did it now and discovered that the Input field and the MIDI Channel field were successfully cloned. So it's just the Output field that needs to be changed manually.

just copy the said track to a track template.
this way the track can be easily called up for duplication.
hold CNTL and drag (copy) your midi material to the new track (track template).

that's all I got.
works fine in producer, sorry to hear :(

Or you can hold ctrl and drag the MIDI track to the blank space below and a new MIDI track will appear.

"hold CNTL and drag (copy) your midi material to the new track (track template)."
were both thinking the same thing :)

Strange it hasn't been officially fixed yet, since the workaround is so easy to do (when you know how of course - thanks Guys!)

for info I have received this from Cakewalk
"10/15/2013 - 05:21 PM: New message posted
This issue has been resolved in SONAR X3.
 Regards,
Cakewalk Problem Reporter"

Not sure that is always what an X2 user wants to hear, but thanks to other forum users all is well - in this case!
