I am contemplating downgrading to Studio X3 from producer. I understand the Pro-channel modules from previous producer version will continue to work in Studio (thanks to Andrew for confirming this). I would like to keep my system organized and clean as much as possible. So, now my question is, which files / settings do I need to copy to X3 so that I can delete producer folder from my HD? This is just for pro-channel modules. I know how to copy / save the global settings / presets so no issues on that front. I really don't want to keep two version side-by-side which I know is also possible. Any tips would be very much appreciated.

Not a direct answer to your question but someone mentioned in Studio you can only use 2 ProChannel modules, vs 8 in Producer? Might be worth checking out.

Yep, says so on the Cakewalk site. I guess if you don't mind being limited to 2 per channel you'll be okay. But I want ALL OF THEM!!! Sorry, got excited for a second.

That is applicable to new owners. If someone had producer version before and now wants to downgrade to Studio instead of producer then all pro-channel modules from prior producer will continue to work in studio as well. For example, those two compressors. Andrew confirmed this already in KVR forum. I like the PC modules too but upgrade price is bit high for me cause I already have Melodyne and other effects.

I'm confused. Is it that you only get two modules with Studio or that you're only allowed to ever use 2 modules at the same time? Big difference between the two.

In X1 / X2, some ProChannel modules are included, some purchased separately

If you install X3 Studio on top of X1 / X2 Pro, there is nothing to do, X3 Studio shall pick up all the previous modules, or if you do a clean install of X3 Studio on a new PC, you just need re-install other ProChannel modules (beside the two that comes shipped with X3).

So there is no intended limitation on the amount of modules you can actually use on any given track?

Nope.

X3 Pro starts with 8 bundled modules (included most modules we have to purchase in X1 / X2).

X3 Studio starts with 2 bundled modules.

Both enables additional modules to be added.. when there are available - there was some Soft Tube ProChannel modules available back some time.. but didn't seem to find that anymore (requires iLok).

If only the Zoom QuadCurve EQ is enabled in X3 Studio - then both version will be equal in term of ProChannel option.

I have upgraded to Producer X3 so my problem is solved :-). However, my question is still valid if anyone else is in the same situation and don't want to keep multiple versions of Sonar installed on their DAW.

FWIW, the PC modules are actually in the \shared utilities\internal folder.   So I don't think that someone going from X2 Producer to X3 Studio would have to do anything because that's a shared location for SONAR installs.

BTW, enjoy the Producer version.   Lots to love.
