  • List of locked VST in Sonar x3? & suggestion to bakers for better organisation

This is not a complaint against having bundled VST for Sonar x3. Far from it.. whatever the bakers can do to make the package more appealing I am all in favour of.

However I do suggest that in future that the bundled VST locked to Sonar be placed into a different dedicated directory, such that I can easily exclude said directory from VST searches by other programs..

I often use a light VST host when working on sound design, or use Maschine when going minimalist and I am sure there are plenty of folks in similar situations or even those who run multiple DAW e(yikes!)..,

Essentially the situation is that to have a different VST host puke up and freeze, or have to click a box 20 times to get past warning dialogs isn't an efficient method of working...its kinda irritating.

So, in the meanwhile, is there a defined list of the locked VST so that I can manually move them into another directory?

thx

The locked plugins are always in the Cakewalk VST Plugins folder.
You can to move all your other VST's outside the cakewalk vst folder. That way you won't need to scan that path in other hosts.

I have one VSTPlugin folder only under root (C drive) that holds all my plugins but during X3 I went with the default folder suggestion and installed everything within Cakewalk/VSTPlugins folder. Until unless I direct other DAWs/Hosts to scan this folder they will not show up.

BlueTubes FX, Breverb, TH2, VC2 are all locked to Sonar. I read elsewhere in the forum that AAS stuff and Melodyne are not locked so is Percussion Strip and Vocal Strip.

I disagree with this suggestion basically because the less a program dictates how or where things (plugs in this case) are installed the better for me.    That way I can put/install them where I prefer.

You can always move them as Noel suggested afterwards or do a separate install for those particular plugs. In this instance, it would be beneficial if there were some indication under the Advanced installation of plugs listed that are locked to SONAR. That sounds more reasonable to me.

As is every other plugin associated with Sonar, and that's my point.

That's a solid idea...
