Wow- all that work? I understand you inserting tracks, I just don't understand why. I do not have Komplete long as you do, but it sounds like lots of extra work. I would think- the advantage of individual audio tracks for each instrument would be that when you freeze... would it freeze 1 instrument at a time? When I insert instrument, it creates 1 audio track and 1 midi track. Then I create MIDI tracks, but use the same Audio track. I did not think, how I will be freezing it- now that you mentioned- I realize- it may be tough. You say- you insert "Audio track", but you supposed to be inserting "Instrument track. Regular Audio track does not have "Freeze" button, only instrument. Regular Audio track is not paired with MIDI track. My MIDI and Instrument track are paired- if I press Mute or Solo- both Midi and Instrument track stop playing.

PS: what was the name of software you use to grab Audio from Youtube? Thank you.

Two important things to know:

1. If you wait a month or so, they'll do their annual Christmas sale (50% off sale) so Kontakt 5 will be half price, too.

2. You won't be able to full edit the libraries that came after the release of Kontakt 5. If you don't need to full edit them you can just use them in K5 Player. I use K4 Full for most of my libraries but also use K5 Player because libraries like Studio Drummer and Abbey Road Drummer libraries don't run in K4.

Hope that helps

Robert, thanks for the tutorial.   I'll be looking for those types of how to stuff as I get deeper into the program.  I've used Samplelank heavily and Giga Sampler to an extent, so I do have some basic mapping and routing knowledge that I hope will help me make the transition, too.

I was actually quite comfortable using Sampletank and have most of the sound available for it.  It worked really well for me because the sounds didn't take a lot of memory and in my old system that was a real advantage,,, but now that I have a new system, I feel like I have the power to use full fledged 24 bit sounds.  A lot of what I'm gearing up for is playing live along with drum tracks on three keyboards with a mic for singing.  I can do this as a solo show playing for parties, lounge type stuff and doing wedding music.

I want to be able to set up multi's that would have different voices mapped where I want them and load them quickly.  The Seraphine set is a terrific library, BTW.  It's one of the things that is driving me into kontakt, though.   I want to be able to set up multi's were I can have car horns or novelty sounds like cows mooing or pigs grunting to use as comic additions, or to set up nature sounds, bells, wind sounds etc to use while I'm telling jokes or stories between songs.

Using player, you can't just map one voice to a single note, you get the samples mapped across the spectrum and need to change channels to get the sound you want.  Also, I am hoping to be able to slice those samples up so I get just the elements I want.

I will be watching for sales on Seraphine to get deeper into that, too.  I just bought the intro library, which I got on sale, too.

Jlien, thanks for the heads up on the sale thing.

I don't think not being able to load newer libraries will be an issue for quite a while, because I can wait till I get the upgrade to Kontakt 9 for that.  Right now I've pretty much blown the wad and need to not spend more money for a while and just use what I got.

Reading what you guys are saying here, I'm feeling really good about getting Komplete 7.  I think it's going to work for me right away.  hoping it gets here on Wed.

ETA,,, I also have my project studio hat to wear, too.  I think using 24 bit sounds will also make my productions more pristine.

Blah blah,,, enough about me,,,

how are you guys using Kontakt???

Kontakt is my go-to sampler.

I use it for most orchestra and band instruments, and also use it for constructing sounds - I built the clocks/bells intro to the Pink Floyd song 'Time', and also built from scratch a rendition of the cash register sounds at the beginning of Money.

It is a very powerful bit of software.

I use Kontakt factory libraries a lot, as well as third-party libraries and samples like VI.One, Sampletekk White Grand, Shreddage Base Pick edition. Although I have Dimension Pro too, I hardly use it (I seem to like multi-timbre ones. Technically Dim Pro can also be multi-timbre, though).
