It is time to thank all of you at Cakewalk and in this forum for helping a total novice like me learn an incredible DAW. Now looking at new computer, new DAW and no doubt, steep learning curve. (kind of scared you know)
The bakers at Sonar created the thing that kept these old dreams alive. Yeah, no professional here, just an occasional basement dabbler, but the thought has always been, maybe someday ... I wonder how many of us there are. We played in bars in the 70's - 80's, then work and family and work came first, no regrets at all, having more fun that ever!
Sonar 2.0 X-2, June 2002, my son is 7, daughter is 1. Then came 5 Pro, 8.5 Pro, X-2 and finally X-3. Yes, many of us never went down the "wormhole", never gave it everything to make any kind of living at it. Just in it for the love, family and work first, midnight oil only for the DAW.
The total 15 year production: 15 backing tracks, 2 original songs and literally thousands upon thousands of hours playing a $30 pawn shop guitar, along with the music, in the basement, inside the cans. Not much of a resume' I guess, but oh what a thrill it has been!
Next stop: Laptop production in the living room where I can be with family and compose at the same time. New HP Spectre 360 8th gen i7, new Focusrite interface, new DAW (Cubase), new Taylor 210 acoustic! Then stardom of course. At 63 years old maybe I should hurry a little?
Sorry about the reflections, but there will be no suitable replacement for the unusual experience of ghosting around these threads among the many, many musical greats at Cakewalk and in this forum, generous and gracious in sharing and helping us along.
