Tom, I'm curious about your problems with Faderport. I'm running X3, and my Faderport is working perfectly. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for it?
I'm running the latest firmware - no problems. Faderport can go 'readonly' if the
outport setting in the surface controls settings dialog isn't set to FaderPort. This can happen once in a blue moon if the FaderPort is not connected when you start Sonar, or for some reason the USB driver got corrupted in memory for some reason. It just requires setting it correctly again.
